Seventh Day Slumber Shares “Marina’s Story”: A Testimony of Survival, Faith, and God’s Miraculous Power

Christian rock band Seventh Day Slumber has shared a deeply moving story from their recent tour, one that shows God’s power to redeem, renew, and breathe new life into even the darkest situations.

Frontman Joseph Rojas posted on social media about a touching encounter with a young woman named Marina, whose journey from despair to hope has moved thousands. The post, shared with a heartfelt note and a sensitivity warning, went viral across faith communities online.

Rojas first met Marina when she was just twelve, a devoted fan of the band. “She loved our music, and we even took a picture together back then,” he recalled. “Now she’s nineteen, and a few days ago at our concert she asked me for a tattoo that meant a lot to her.”

The tattoo design — a skeleton holding a mask attached by puppet strings with multiple faces — symbolizes Marina’s inner struggle with identity and pain. “It represents what she felt inside,” Rojas explained, “putting on different faces so people would think she was fine while she was struggling deep down.”

About a year ago, Marina reached a breaking point and attempted to take her life by ingesting four bottles of prescription medication. She locked her bedroom door and left a message for her parents on her phone’s lock screen.

Yet, in what Rojas describes as nothing short of divine intervention, Marina’s father found that the locked door had somehow opened. He rushed her to the hospital, where doctors warned she likely wouldn’t survive the night.

“God wasn’t done with her story,” Rojas emphasized. “Not only did she survive, but she recovered, went through therapy, and came out stronger than ever.”

Today, Marina is a clinical therapy student, determined to help others who face similar pain to what she once endured. With courage and conviction, she asked Rojas to share her story publicly so others would know that healing is possible and that no one is truly alone.

“Marina, I’m so proud of you,” Rojas wrote. “You are living proof that God still works miracles.”

The post closes with a message of hope to anyone facing similar battles: If you’re struggling, know that you are loved, you are wanted, and your story isn’t over.

Fans and supporters flooded the band’s social profiles with prayers, words of encouragement, and testimonies of their own. Known for ministering to those facing depression, addiction, and despair, the band continues to use its platform to speak truth and life into dark places.

Since forming in the late 1990s, Seventh Day Slumber has become one of Christian rock’s most enduring voices, uniting raw honesty with a message of redemption. With albums like “Picking Up the Pieces,” “Finally Awake,” and “Death by Adoration,” they have built a legacy of evangelism, authenticity, and spiritual renewal.

The band’s ongoing “Death by Adoration Tour” continues to share the hope of Jesus across the country, reaching those who feel unseen and reminding them that there is a God who still heals, still saves, and still redeems.
