Vials of Wrath „Remnants for Remembrance”

There’s a certain kind of black metal record that doesn’t just want to pummel you with blast beats and tremolo picking, but aims to carve out a space for contemplation—a soundtrack for wandering through leaf-littered forests, for feeling both the weight and beauty of the changing seasons. “Remnants for Remembrance,” the highly anticipated new release from Vials of Wrath, is one of those rare records.

Vials of Wrath — Remnants for Remembrance (cover)It’s out digitally October 7, 2025, with CDs arriving October 31, and vinyl set for January 2026. Pre-ordering via Visionofgodrecords.com not only guarantees you get a copy, but will save you a few bucks too—a nice touch for fans who know these limited runs always vanish fast.

The Artist and the Vision

Vials of Wrath is the project of Dempsey “DC” Mills, a one-man force from Tennessee whose work blends northern influences with southern woods and field recordings, while writing from a perspective of faith often linked to the “unblack metal” movement.

Fall’s Last Light: The Album’s Concept

Mills frames “Remnants for Remembrance” as an ode to autumn—both literal and metaphorical—marrying black metal’s ferocity with cinematic ambience and melancholic melody for a reflective, spiritual reckoning.

The Recording and Production

All songs were written, recorded, and produced between October 2023 and June 2025 at Fallen Oak Recording in Maryville, Tennessee, with mastering completed in August 2025.

The Tracklist

The White Stag • Seed of the Black Oak • Branches of the Black Oak • Abram’s Creek • Baptized in Amber Light • Magicicada • Forty Nine Novembers.

A Sound Both Fierce and Beautiful

The album thrives on contrasts—cold/warmth, beauty/brutality—and rewards solitary, deep listening.
