Hopeful., the latest sensation in alternative rock, has just dropped their new single “Wild One” today, October 4, available on all streaming platforms. Co-written by lead vocalist Randy James, lead guitarist Hunter Jackson, and Andrew Polfer of the independent band Lovelite, “Wild One” encapsulates a powerful message: let go of the past and embrace the present.
Randy reflects on this theme, stating, “So much of our lives are missed out on because we’re worried about what we don’t have or didn’t accomplish, or what’s going to happen next or what could get taken away from us.” He recalls the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:34, emphasizing the importance of living in the moment: “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
The song begins with muffled, vintage vocal tones, quickly bursting into a vibrant alt-rock anthem that reassures listeners of the unbreakable bond they share with God. It boldly asserts, “You know it’s time to leave the past behind,” setting a tone of liberation as it unfolds.
“God works more freely when we’re open-handed,” Randy continues. “When we hold on to the things of the past, we limit the capacity God’s given us to embrace new opportunities. Letting go creates space for what He has in store for us.”
While recognizing that letting go of the past can be challenging, Randy highlights the healing power of music. “We’ve all gone through different levels of hurt, and some of us require extra therapy for it. There’s no shame in that. But songs like these remind us that we can release our burdens. Music speaks to the soul in ways that words sometimes cannot.”
Featuring Carly Ann Taylor on backing vocals, “Wild One” crescendos to an emotional climax, declaring, “I won’t let it, I won’t let it bring me down,” embodying the spirit of resilience and hope.
Produced by Gable Price (of Gable Price and Friends), “Wild One” is the second single from Hopeful. since the release of their debut EP, When The Turbulence Hits. This marks a pivotal moment for the band, with plans for more music in early 2025 and a full-length album on the horizon. Fans can catch them live in Folsom, California, on November 15 alongside Carly Ann Taylor. For tickets and further details, click here.
