In a bold move that bridges two decades of metalcore evolution, August Burns Red has announced the release of their re-recorded version of their seminal debut album, "Thrill Seeker." Set to drop on January 24th, 2025, this anniversary edition marks a significant milestone in the band's journey from underground heroes to Grammy-nominated metal titans.
The original "Thrill Seeker," which hit the streets on November 8, 2005, through Solid State Records, was a raw, unbridled display of metalcore fury that helped define the genre's sound for years to come. Now, nearly two decades later, the band is revisiting these classic tracks with current vocalist Jake Luhrs at the helm, bringing new life to songs that have become cornerstones of the metalcore genre.
"When I joined the band in early 2006, I often spoke about how I'd love to do vocals on a studio recording of Thrill Seeker," reveals Luhrs. "I did the majority of the touring on the album and always felt a deep connection to it." This personal connection has now manifested into reality, as Luhrs steps into shoes originally filled by Josh McManness, whose sole release with the band was the original Thrill Seeker.
The re-recorded version isn't just a simple remake. The band has enlisted the expertise of producers Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland to breathe new life into these classic tracks while maintaining their original spirit. In a special nod to the album's history, original album producer Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage makes a guest appearance on "Speech Impediment", creating a perfect bridge between past and present.
The release will include a re-recording of the rare bonus track "Pride & Humility", offering fans both new and old something special to look forward to. The band has already released a reimagined version of "Your Little Suburbia Is In Ruins" as a preview, showcasing the enhanced production values while maintaining the song's original intensity.
